In addition to our Dino-mite Birthday Parties, we offer age appropriate monthly science lessons, lectures and science camps.  We conduct regional presentations and give seminars upon request when able.  To learn more about scheduling a speaking engagement please contacts the center.

.: Super Science Saturdays!    

This event is a monthly Saturday morning activity geared for children of all ages but targeted specifically toward 5-10 year olds.  Come and participate in a science experiment and craft correlating to the topic of the prior Saturday’s lecture.  Come prepared to get messy!
When: The second Saturday of every month:

Time: 1:30-2:30 P.M at Akron Fossils and Science Center

Cost: $3 per person (no more than $8 combined for multiple siblings)

June 14 Under the Sea: Do you know what kind of fish Nemo is? How about Dori? There are some amazing and unusual creatures that live under the sea. Come watch an exciting presentation on these marvels of creation and make a jellyfish of your own!

July 12: Amazing Astronomy: “Twinkle twinkle little star, how I wonder what you are!” What do you see when you look up in the night sky? There are some exciting things going on above our heads! Come explore the night sky in the middle of the afternoon and make a starry craft to take home!  

August 9: Bubbleology: New and improved: a Super Science Saturday favorite! Come explore the exciting world of bubbles! What is the biggest bubble you can make? Can you make a square bubble? Prepare to get messy!!!

Note to Parents:  The projects will be supervised by our trained youth and adult staff.  Please be prompt in picking up your children after the event. Most of our spring and summer Super Science Saturdays take place outdoors so please have your child dress accordingly.

 Science Adventure Club

   
This event is a monthly activity and science class for students with a desire to learn about God’s creation. Science Adventure Club features hands-on activities that demonstrate exciting science themes. Our classes give students an opportunity to take an active part in our Vier’s Ditch Research Project with resident biologist Cindy Julius. The classes are jointly led by Katelyn and Cindy.


When: The second Friday of every month from 3:30-5:30 PM.
          Club meetings run September 14, 2007 to May 9, 2008.


Junior Class (geared for 3-5th grade)
1:15 to 3:15 pm


Senior Class (geared for 6-8th grade)
3:30 to 5:30 pm


Cost: Club Membership is $65 (membership covers all 9 months of projects)
        Non-members fee: $10/meeting

Although there is no registration required to participate in Science Adventure Club we would appreciate it if you would call us before each class so that we know that you child will be attending. Also, since the Vier’s Ditch research project takes place outside please have your child dress appropriately for the weather. Be prepared to get dirty.
