FAQs
For the museum and park
Is the Science Center appropriate for all ages?
Yes. Our hands-on guided tours are targeted to the age and comprehension level of the youngest person in each tour group.
Do I have to make a reservation for a tour?
It depends.
- If you are an individual or family you do not need to make any reservations, however we recommend that you call before you come so that you do not arrive at the same time as a previously scheduled group.
- If you are in a group of ten or more people, advanced reservations are required. See our group fieldtrip page
Can I tour the museum by myself?
No, the museum is set up for guided tours. Once you have been given a guided tour, however, you may explore the exhibits again at your own pace.
Do you have live animals?
Not really. We have one exhibit with live cockroaches. From time to time, however, we have live reptile shows at the museum for special events and our summer day camp.
Do you have real dinosaurs?
No. But we do have real dinosaur bones and other real fossils that you will have the opportunity to hold on a guided tour of the museum.
Are you open during the winter?
Yes. The Science Center is open all year round (see our hours of operation). Truassic Park, however, is open weather permitting (i.e. the park is closed during thunder storms and deep snow).
Do you have reciprocal admission discounts with other museums?
Not currently, but we are seeking reciprocal discount pricing.
How are you funded?
We are 501(c)3 non-profit organization. 60% of our annual operating costs is paid for by the admission and activity fees we charge. The other 40% of our operating cost comes from fundraising and the generous gifts of individuals like you. Learn more about supporting us on our donations page
Is there a place to eat at your facility?
Yes, we have an outdoor picnic shelter (that seats 24) as well as indoor eating areas in our Gift Shop and Birthday Party Room for you to eat a packed lunch. We also have snacks and beverages for sale in our Gift Shop. There are several local pizza places that can deliver pizza to the museum (call us for recommendations).
For those looking for places to eat elsewhere, there is a Subway, Big Star Pizza and a lunch-room called Circle Cafe 3 minutes north of us near the Copley circle on S. Cleveland-Massillon Rd. Additional restaurant selections can be found further north of us in the Montrose/Fairlawn shopping district or to the south of us in and around Norton Plaza.
