Look over Josiah’s lecture topics and consider your group’s specific areas of interest. This will enable you to determine what key points you would like addressed in your hand-tailored presentation.  

2. Estimate Your Group
An effective teacher builds a “bridge” to reach his audience. Josiah appreciates knowing a bit about the demographics of your group so that he can better prepare his creation lecture specifically for your unique group. The size and age of your group, the boy/girl ratio, the cultural/religious background, and the level of scientific comprehension, are each important factors to consider.

Compensation
There are a number of factors involved in determining a fair price for presentations. No two groups or lectures are the same. Josiah tries to be as flexible as he can in accommodating the financial means of your group. Honorariums are generally the best way to compensate his presentations. Josiah also has a mileage fee for traveling, so your distance from the Science Center is another important factor to keep in mind.

Mileage
Our mileage rate is the same as the current business mileage rates of 58.5 cents a mile.

3. Contact Josiah
Sending your event details to Josiah is the best way to initiate a Museum in a Backpack tour.  Although it is possible to make all the remaining arrangements through email, Josiah prefers to communicate by telephone or in person to assure accuracy. When you email, don’t forget to include a return phone number and the best time to call back so that he can promptly finalize the presentation arrangements.
